Marcus Hugh (Fuzz) Rosser
Rev. Marcus H. Rosser, age 66, of Newton, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, at
his home.
Funeral service was 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008, from Newton United
Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Glover officiating. Interment followed
in Newton City Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family
received friends following the service in the Church.
Rev. Rosser was born June 1, 1941, in Newton, to the late James Marcus
and Esther Atkinson Rosser. He attended Newton High School and received
his Batchelor of Science Degree from Troy University. He served as a United
Methodist Minister for 32 years in the Alabama and West Florida Conference.
The Rev. Rosser was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
"Fuzz", as he was affectionately called by his many loyal and
dedicated friends, enjoyed reading, watching old western movies and Alabama
football.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Arlene McClendon Rosser of Newton; one daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Robert Baskin of Dothan; one son, Gary Rosser of Ewell; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Patricia "Patsy" Johnson of Ozark, Carolyn Borland of Pinckard and Mary Virginia and Don Showalter of Dothan; one brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence E. and Zeda Rosser of Oak Grove, Ky.; two grandchildren, Ashley Carey of Dothan and David Marcus Rosser of Ewell; two great-grandchildren, Natalie Phillips and Brooklyn Rosser of Dothan.
