Abbie James Pickett passed away January 12, 2019. He was 88.
He was born August 6, 1930 in Houston County and resided in Dothan most
of his life. He graduated from Newton High School Class of 1950. He was
married to Angelyn Joyce Clearman Pickett for 64 years. James served in
the U.S. Army in Korea as an infantry squad leader and was awarded for
actions performed during compat, retired from the Alabama National Guard,
had a long career as a TV technician retiring from Sears and residential
rentals was his final career. He was a devoted husband, father, grand and
great grandparent who enjoyed working, gardening, fishing and sports. His
love for Christ motivated his years of active membership in churches in
the community where he taught Sunday School, sang in choirs, and served
as a trustee.
